WDW TRIP.......

Getting in the mood for our Walt Disney World trip. Check my ticker counter at the right to see when we leave.
We love figment who lives in Epcot, and of course we will visit him there.

I get a lot of knitting done while we are there.
We always stay for 15 days. That’s a lot of time to just knit and enjoy Disney World.
So most of my important packing is what patterns and yarn should I take?
I can bet you it will be mostly SOCKS. I love knitting socks and I have tons of yarn just waiting their turn to be knit.
Last time we were there, which was this last March 2007, I found a LYS about 45 min away.Well according to the GPS,
It should have taken us 45 min.
but with the crazy Fl. traffic it took us 1 1/2 hours. I though it was worth it. Not according to DH tho.
I'm sure I’ll give the LYS another visit. I still have the yarn that I bought there last time, unknit.
Oh surprise at that. LOL!!
I just might post a picture of the shop if I remember to take my digital with.
Well back to knitting socks for my DH, he can hardly wait for me to finish them.
And neither can I so I can get on to something for ME, ME, ME, ME, ME.

ALMOST THERE..............

It's been so long since I've started working on this sweater, but I"m almost there.
I'm still seaming it. Cause I am not too thrilled about seaming, I'm taking my time.
So Shirley this is for you.

ONLY A PHOTO POST...............

Whenever I pass the restaurant that has this Red Tree out in front, I go " Wow, isn't that pretty",
I just wanted to share.
Of course it's much prettier in person. Anyone interested, I'll give you the address.

JUST FORGET OCTOBER SOCKS

Here are my october socks. They don't look like socks you say, well you are correct.
i've started them 4 times and ripped them each time.

So I decided to put them aside and knit some purses.

there is no ripping, no swearing, no throwing anything, just calm knit, knit, knit.
I use Cascade 220 along with an eyelash yarn. If you read my blog you might have seen this purse before.
I don't use a purse so they will make nice gifts, or a bazaar sale. I've tried ETSY, but don't have much luck selling there.
I really think you need to see this purse in person, they are so cute.
I do plan on going back to the socks, Roza's Socks, but not for a while. A long while. LOL!!
happy knitting to you all!

A very bad post...........

I'm walking here! I'm walking here!
MIDNIGHT COWBOY 1969
If you're a movie buff like myself, you might be familiar with famous quotes from movies.
This is #27.
So one morning back in july the 14 to be exact, I was feeling
silly and I posted that stupid blog. Even my brother
knew what the post was but didn't think much of it. Oh Well!!
My brother is one of those people who loves movies and knows almost everything about moives.
In fact if you ever go on "Who Wants to be a Millionaire" you might want him to be your
phone a friend regarding movies.

If you haven't seen this movie I strongly recommend you do.
It was an academy award winner.
It turns out that a taxi driver just drove onto the movie set, Dustin Hoffman not expecting
that came out with that now famous line.
Of course they decided to leave it in the movie.
So if anyone of my blog readers wondered what that post was all about, here's
the answer. I know most of you were. right?

Real Red

This is a felted purse. See my toes in the left hand corner
of the picture. The pattern is " The Lucy Bag" by "Two Old Bags" i got the pattern at Stitches Midwest. No not
this last August, the year before. I'm not doing to badly. Just a year!

The yarn i used in Red color, pretty obvious, is Plymouth's Galway.
I don't uses purses, so I'm going to try and sell it in an upcoming bazaar,
or as I've done in the past, give it away to some lucky person.

This picture is a drawing I did one semester for a school project.
I didn't care much for it untill I got an A on it. Then it started looking
better to me so I framed it and it hangs in my dining room. I shot the picture on an
angle to avoid the glare.
The subject had to be of food. Just thought you'd like to see just how talented I am. LOL!!
The picture looks better in person, so if your interested I'll send you my home address.

IT'S A MONKEY

I joined the "Monkey Sock" bandwagon. If you know anything about me you'll know that I used the yarn called for
in the pattern. Shelridge Farm Soft Touch Ultra Fingering Weight yarn.
I found it to be easy to knit with, and i liked the way it feels.

I was so excited when I saw them at Stitches Midwest, they seemed to be real nice people and I was
glad to buy directly from them. All the colors were so yummy looking.
This pair of "Monkey Socks" is for my daughter-in-laws mother for Christmas.
Lisa, my daughter-in-law, was so impressed with all the socks
that I made for myself, she couldn't resist wanting a pair.
Being the wonderful person that she is, she wanted a pair for her mother.
Lisa's mother doesn't read my Blog so I know I am safe in posting it.
So now on to one of my many other projects already in progess, but which one?
Happy Knitting!!!

DISHCLOTH/WASHCLOTHS

What do you think; do I have enough yarn to make a few cloths?
With the help of so many nice bloggers that belong to the monthlydishcloth KAL
I've found some great looking cloths to knit.

I have given one away and have made a couple more to give away.
They are a nice break from knitting Socks, even though I really don't need a break from
Knitting socks, it's nice to have something else on the needles.
So I'm off to choose a pattern and start another cloth.
Happy Knitting!!

better late than never

i finally got my post card that was taken at Stitches Midwest
i'm in the middle of my niece Ilisa, on the left and my good
friend Carolyn on the right.

as i said before we had a blast.
did anyone else that went to Stiches Midwest get to take
a photo card that you can share?

BEFORE AND AFTER

this is the before, it was even further along, i was on the foot

this is what it looks like now

I had so much trouble with the yarn, not the pattern, that I just decided that it wasn't worth the
trouble. When I was on the cable row, cause the yarn was so thin and dark in color
and my vision is not the greatest, I was dropping stitches, picking up stitches where they didn't
belong, and I was just getting so frustrated.
So the sock is now a ball of yarn.
How do I feel about it. GOOD! I'm ok with it.
anyone want a couple balls of Lana Grossa Meilemweit Cotton? LOL!!

Photo booth wonders

I just realized my Mac came with a built-in camera

so taking a quick picture and posting it is so easy
here is an update on my "Cable Rib Socks".
I tried to post it to the KAL in vain. I don't seem to have much luck posting
a picture there or anyother KAL for that matter.
the colorway choice was not a good one for this pattern, really can't see the cable stitch.

Priscilla's Dream Socks

The socks are "Priscilla’s Dream socks" from the book "Favorite Socks".
I have to say I thought I’d never finish them.

The short row had me going
somewhat crazy so I had to put them down form time to time.
crazy as it sounds I want to make another pair.
The yarn I used was Dale of Norway Tiur in colorway red #4136.
I wasn't too excited about the yarn, it frayed some and the color was
so dark that I had a difficult time seeing the stitches. Not a fun knit.

I down sized the needles 1 size and they fit just beautifully.
I have to thank Kathy for all her support and for listening to all my whining.
Shirley, I thank you also.
Now I am going to try and finish the little cardigan I started sometime ago along with
another pair of socks i started from "Favorite Socks".

AGP.......

Yesterday I went downtown Chicago to the American Girl Place with my daughter Tina, and my granddaughter Rachel.
The picture is from 2 years ago when Rachel got her 1st American Girl Doll.

Where is the picture from this trip you ask? Well guess who forgot her camera. Did you guess me? Them you are correct.
I can't believe that, no camera on such an important trip. Oh well! There will be other trips.
I did take a camera when Ellie and I went there a few weeks ago; here is a picture of Ellie at the bean at Chicago Millennium
Park. We had a great time then also.

Rachel had her dolls hair combed back to how it was when new, that was a fun thing to do, going to beauty shop there.
You can also give you doll what is called a spa treatment. We took a pass on that one. I'd show you what Rachel purchased, but remember, NO CAMERA. I'd also show you the giant cup cake she got at Hershey's but NO CAMERA.
The weather couldn't have been better, it was overcast, no fear of getting a migraine from the sun, and the temp was in the low 70ds. What more could you ask for.
We ate outdoors at the Park Grill in Millennium Park, good place to eat and very good food.
All in all we had a wonderful time.
I feel so fortunate to live in a north Chicago Suburb, so close to downtown Chicago. It's just a "TODDLING TOWN".
Now back to Knitting, I'm hoping to get my "Priscilla's Dream Socks" done today.

A GREAT TIME............

Well Stitches Midwest is over and I'm home. I am very happy with the control I used regarding my spending.
I don't know what I spent and don't much care I just hope I use all the yarn I bought.
The picture has a few things I bought, see the pink bag in the upper corner, it's the medium size of the knowknits bag. I have the small one for socks already.
The best part of the event was the two people that I shared the time with. California Carolyn and My niece Ilisa.
I had the most wonderful time.
Last year I had some problems with the food at the Hyatt, spent a day in with a Migraine. This year
I was told that 5 months ago the Hyatt completed a make over to the toon of 65 million dollars and one of the
Things they changed was the restaurant. Now the restaurant is pretty good. We also ate at the Double Tree which
also has a great restaurant. Good food.
I took a few classes one Thursday, one Friday, and one Saturday. All in all the classes were well run and had
Great instructors, however, I thought for me they were a waste of time. I didn't learn anything. I have been knitting
Way too long and knew all that they covered in the class. Oh well, it kept me off the market floor.
The fashion show was great. I won a door prize

A shawl make up of 36 different colors of Malabrigo yarn. Yummy yarn if I have to say so myself.
I bought mostly sock yarn, and a few accessories, some needles too.

This is 100% Extrafine Lambswool in a plum that I picked up for a shawl pattern I bought there. (like I needed another shawl pattern), but you get caught up in the moment and just can't help yourself, or at least I can't.

Koigu for another shawl.

I found this pretty shawl pin just in case I do knit a shawl.

I bought a lot of sock yarn, last year I wasn't into socks, but most of the women there last year were. This year not that many sock knitters.

Some sweet Soft Touch Ultra by Shelridge Farm for "Monkey Socks" and Lorna's Laces for "Roza's Socks".

I just noticed how close in color both yarns are. that is what happens when you become overwhelmed at the market.
Now I start my yarn diet.

August dishcloth!!

It was fun. every morning I'd get up early,go to the computer,(so what else is new), and there
it was. The next day of the KAL for the Monthly Dishcloth. You don't know what the pattern is going
to be so you knit and knit and bingo bango, there it is.

So if anyone is going to get a gift from me for no reason, it's going to be a dishcloth, like it or not.
it's so much easier than socks. LOL!!!

Sorry I know the pictures aren't that good, but you have some idea what they look like, don't you?
Now I have anohter reason to buy more yarn, I need dishcloth yarn, I used Lily's Sugar"N Cream and I
like working with it.
So Michaels here I come.
Yah, a reason to buy more yarn. What about my diet you say. How many times have you or someone you know said
they were going on a diet and Lied.
well, ok call me a liar.

Aug 2, 2007

OK, ENOUGH IS ENOUGH......

So this is what I got yesterday.

After a while it all starts looking alike. I think it's time for a yarn diet.
I know, I'm going to Stitches Midwest next thursday and I'll be staying at the Hyatt and I'll be there till it
ends on Sunday. However, that is not going to count. LOL! I'm going to try and control myself there.
But when I get home, I'm starting my diet, where have i heard that before?
One of my problems, and you won't believe this, my husband doesn't stop me. I know, that's crazy. who whould believe that.
Not only does he make the bed every morning, change the linens every saturday and do the laundry, he doesn't stop me
from buying as much yarn and knitting stuff as i want. He's the best!!
I'm taking a list of the yarn I have on my wish list along with things like refills for my Namaste knitting bag, things like that are must have things. Goodness knows I don't need any needles, have double and triples of most DPN and straight and Circluars.
Of course if there is new stuff there that I don 't have that doesn't count either.
So wish me luck, PLEASE!!!!!!!!

Aug 1, 2007

ANYONE HOME?

I didn't hear a knock, but someone, or somecat is at my door.
I think she is just checking up on my progress with the "Priscilla's Dream Socks".

Jul 30, 2007

PROGRESS REPORT...................

Ok, it only took 4 tries and lots of head scratching, as kathy can attest to.
But here they are. From "Favorite Socks" the Priscilla's Dream Socks".

not finished as one can see, but they are on their way to completion. (I hope).
the heel is done in short rows and different than anyother sock pattern I've done to date.

I'm using Dale of Norway Tiur as called for in the pattern and I downsized the needles 1 size to a 2 instead of a 3 to start and then for the lower leg I used 1 1/2.
I'm looking forward to posting a completed sock one of these days.
I hope you will all hang on with me.
Next week Stitches Midwest and I can't wait.

Jul 27, 2007

IS IT YOUR BIRTHDAY?

This picture was drawn by my Granddaughter Rachel a few years ago when she was about 6 years old.

A future artist I'm sure.
Thank you Rachel for your beautiful artwork.

CAN'T SLEEP

Well it’s after 2AM and after staring up at the ceiling for over 2 hours I decided to just give up and get out of bed.
My mind is on Stitches Midwest, which is coming up fast. Even tho I live in Illinois,
I’m going to stay at the Hyatt Regency O'Hare with my dear friend California Carolyn and
Ilisa, my wonderful niece from Stone Mountain, Ga. So I guess that is why I can’t sleep,
I’m thinking about stitches. I’ve signed up for 3 classes one on Thursday one on Friday
and another one on Saturday along with going to the Fashion Show Friday night. Last year
Carolyn and I had a ball. I spent more than I should have and I still have most all the yarn in
my stash all except a tube scarf that I knit shortly after.
So my brain is so busy packing all I need for the classes as well as a list of yarn that I might need LOL!
I should say might want. Which knitting bag to bring? What project should I knit there? On and on and on.
It’s no wonder I can’t sleep.
I should just pack everything now and forget about it till August 9th. Then maybe I’ll sleep.
Ok, I’m going to read a little of, what else, Harry Potter.
Maybe that will make me sleepy. One can only hope.

Jul 23, 2007

I WAS OUT TO LUNCH...................

and when I got home I checked the front door and what did I find?!

A beautiful ball of supersocke 100 ON LINE in City-Color along with hand lotion "sweet pea" which was
my gift from the birthday giveaway on julia's blog
and from visiting her blog and seeing what she has in her Future Projects, I just had
to have the book " knitted Babes". Something to add to my future projects.
That's cause my list is getting low. LOL!!

I think the yarn would look just great for (and I hate to say it) "Priscilla's Dream Sock's", I know kathy will get a kick out of that I'm sure.
THANK YOU JULIA VERY MUCH.

Jul 21, 2007

on the needles ..................

From interweave Favorite Socks using Lana Grossa Meilenweit Cotton, Cable Rib Socks. I'm not
very far as you can see, however, i'm finding it nice to knit both the pattern and the yarn.
then we have the Lion Brand Cotton-Ease Cardigan, because i'm changing colors it's a slow knit.
it's going to be a christmas gift so i've got plenty of time.
And last but not least the infamous "Priscialla Dream Socks" now I know why I don't find very many
pairs on the Favorite Socks KAL blog site.
I know the pictures aren't very good, but they are pictures.
